The production of the coconut (Cocos nucifera) fruit has been very widespread throughout the years especially in the parts of Asia, Africa and Eastern parts of America. Coconut production plays an important role in the economic success of tropical countries such as the Philippines. In the Philippines its national economy relies on the export of coconut products (copra, coconut oil, desiccated coconut, etc.) to different international investors and companies. There are 3.6 million hectares dedicated to coconut plantations alone in the Philippines, which tantamount to 25 – percent of agricultural land that is present in the country. There are five (5) parts of the coconut namely these parts compose of the shell, copra, husk pith, coconut water and husk fiber. Out of all the parts the commonly used parts are the copra and coconut water. Coconut water is the clear liquid that is used as a suspension for the endosperm of the fruit during the nuclear phase of development. Over the years the use of coconut water has been very rampant due to the myriad of health benefits that it offers, it is most known for its high electrolyte content which pushed many businessmen to use it as the main ingredient for sports drinks. Medically, coconut water has a history in being used as a substitute for saline in the period of World War II since saline was rare in that time.
