Family is the biggest significance in my life, even if I did not have the strongest bond with all my relatives, because I knew I could count on them if I ever needed help. Relatives came from all over the United States to come celebrate with me, so I truly felt special that day.
Dr. Meyers, Hello! I hope your Thanksgiving was rejuvenating and enjoyable with family and friends. This is Angelia (Angel) Hirsch from the summer practicum course through Liberty University. I am not certain what happened over the week of Thanksgiving, but our house (which is a 125 year-old historical home, really a niche market, not many want to deal with the special things that come along with the age and up keep) suddenly went into high demand and we had numerous offers come in on Wednesday!
Normally all my fathers family members can attend and I get to catch up with my Canadian cousins and brother who lives in Boston. Additionally we enjoy the classic feast of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans, cranberry sauce, and more. Thanksgiving has a lot of importance to my family because I get to spend time with the people I don't see as often and bond with them. I believe that my family can also feel this social importance, which is why nobody ever seems to miss it, and we always leave so late. Between the food, friends, family, and extra long weekend off school,

Thanksgiving Thanksgiving is the most stimulating holiday. There is an extreme amount of food to see, smell and taste, along with emotions associated with seeing family. The whole feeling of Thanksgiving is warmer and different than most holidays. Aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, and siblings stand in a circle around a table laden with food. Their hands are linked.
Most families eat turkey as their main course of the Thanksgiving meal. They also have traditional foods like potatoes , green beans and lots of pies. Many families play games during the day too like football, soccer, video games or listen to Christmas music. One way we celebrate differently is we start seeing family a week early. 204 million pounds of turkey was wasted over Thanksgiving. Currently the United States is battling a major food waste crisis and between the holidays Thanksgiving and New Years, approximately 40 days, Americans creates 5 million tons of household waste. With wasting food, turkey especially, it's not just the nutrients that are thrown out; time, money, labor and a whole lot of gallons of water go into raising turkeys and to get them ready to be eaten. America is the leading contributor to the global food waste crisis due to the fact that most of America is lucky enough to have access to regular trash collection. Our country's oblivion to the waste problem impacts our society because wasting food is damaging to the environment.

Sure the weeks leading up to thanksgiving are not so fun with all the cleaning and chaos going on with mom yelling “ I just cleaned that!”, but finally sitting down and eating with your entire family makes it all
Martha looked at the myth of Thanksgiving. The idea that an entire family would happily get together for a huge meal. The family will think and talk about everything that they are thankful for. This is heavily discussed in elementary schools.
