Introduction Dick's Sporting Goods, Inc. (Dick's) is a sporting goods retailer offering a bunch of brand name brand sporting goods equipment, apparel, footwear, fan gear, etc. The Company offers a range of sporting goods and active apparel at each price point in order to appeal to the beginner, intermediate and enthusiast sports consumer. The Company also owns and operates Golf Galaxy, a golf specialty retailer, and maintains e-commerce operations for both Dick's and Golf Galaxy. At their Dick's and Golf Galaxy stores, they offer a huge range of golf services, for example custom club fitting, club repair, grip and shaft installation for drivers, irons and also putters. Majority of their retail stores are mostly located in the warmer climate states such as South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Texas. They are still present all around the United States. Major product brands are Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour. Dicks also has and sells its own private label which sale amounts for 15% of total sales. The retailer also owns the Golf Galaxy retail chain and sells similar products and also their private label, which boost their gross profit up by at least 5%. Dicks competes in a fragmented industry, and it consists of the top six sporting goods retailers. From this Dicks holds approximately 19% of $52 billion market. Some major competitors are Recreations Equipment that has about 90 stores, Academy Sports & Outdoors which has just under 100 stores, Big 5 Sporting which has about 300 stores in the western region of the United States, and Hibbett Sports which has about 600 stores in the south east region. Dicks has more than 700 distributing centers including Golf Galaxy centers. Although, competing with these retailers Dicks has a big advantage against all these retailers because Dicks products has a wide variety of products ranging from apparel, footwear, outdoor, sports, hunt, and golf.
