The scene is set on a sunny afternoon. Temperatures are reasonable, though a chilling breeze is letting one know that winter has just passed, but its icy breath is still trying to hang around. It is the first day of spring. These conditions were felt before, only to have winter scar the coming days with a rogue Nor 'easter. But it is spring now. Time for winter to hang up its coat. Time for the annual free cup of Rita 's water ice. The fire from the pit outside of the new Chickies ' and Petes ', dances in the wind as the breeze becomes more noticeable. The orange and red flames reflect on the storefront windows, creating an effect as if the windows were fire places themselves. There are no customers in the restaurant yet, yet the blatantly large televisions that fill entire walls, are on for nobody except the employee standing behind the bar. From the look of the students walking down the sidewalks, one would think it was a warm day. No jackets, just thin sweaters. For the brave, short sleeves and gym shorts, seemingly worn to show off their spring break tans. Many are walking in groups, chatting and taking in the seasonable weather, before it is yet again taken away. The sun is still up. A young man pushes along his skateboard. He is not riding it, but is instead waking it along like it were a dog on a leash. It would make sense to use it as intended or just leave it at home. The board begins to roll too far ahead, as they approach an intersection. He looks around, picks up the board, then walks down the sidewalk until both are out of sight. This intersection of Redmond Avenue and Rowan Boulevard is becoming busier. Cars begin to fill the streets of the four way intersection. The sound of laughing students and blowing breeze, has become drowned out by loud engines and friendly honks from drivers, acknowledging that it is indeed their time to go through the stop
