She believed it was witchcraft was the reason because rumors of it was going around.
She was young at the time she went into hiding and did not know what it meant. She later realized that it was a lot more difficult than she thought it was. She was very despised among her fellow hidies. They did not like her because she was very loud and bothersome. She ultimately found someone to talk to and his name was Peter.
In both instances in “St. Lucy’s” and the Native American Indians, they had no other option but to be repressed by the Early Americans. Such as the early American nation thought it was necessary for the assimilation of the American Indians. Likewise the assimilation of the American Indians the girls in “St. Lucy’s” were forced to blend in and forget their old way of life to learn to act like a human. For the purpose of assimilation, some American Indian children were kidnapped and taken to boarding schools to learn how to be more like the early Americans and forced to forget their old way of life. With this in mind; “St. Lucy’s” children weren’t really kidnapped, but more convinced that this is what there wolf parents wanted from them and
She had been trained in her earlier years by her mother to be a healer, which included working with herbs and native plants of the area. It is through this practice, many people hired her to help cure them, other family members, animals, and also to drive of bad curses. She earned a reputation for helping others but was also seen as a danger to the community. She had the knowledge through her books and power of her healing skills which was not very typical of the average women of this time era.
To get revenge on him, “she drugs his drink; they (the other gods) surrounded him as he slept and bound him with rawhide thongs.” Her jealousy caused her to punish her husband. She was right in doing so but it did backfire on her.
Lucy is the most rebellious out of the three, as even her name – the female version of Lucifer, the fallen angel – suggests. She rejects her mother’s attempt to make her the ideal daughter who is ethical, submissive and decent. She claims that she rather be dead than become the echo of her mother, as the fact that she is identical to her mother scares her. Lucy states: “I did not want to be like my mother…. ‘You can run away, but you cannot escape the fact that I am your mother…’”
Lucy stands in many ways in contrast to Mina’s character as their moral views and ways of life are distant. She has no occupation and is in no way seeking any form of education. Due to this fact she resembles at first initially in no case the modern New Women, as these sought for independence and education. Her personality can be described as girly, lovely and ‘sweetly innocent’, a seeming sample of Victorian perfection. Lucy is highly beheld for her beauty as her appearance is that of a luminous beauty with fair hair, that is described as “sunny ripples” , and pure bright eyes.
In Victorian society, women had the choice between two roles: the pure woman or the fallen woman. Bram Stoker plays with these anxieties revolving around female sexuality – he follows the gothic tradition of innocent damsel in distress against looming evil. The narrative structure Stoker imploys to the text through intertextuality reveals multiple point of view distinguishing a duality in Lucy - her true self and 'thing'. In order to cope with Lucy’s worsening condition, the male authoritative figures of the text assign a duality present in Lucy to make sense of her shifting from “pure woman” to “fallen woman”. Stoker exhibits in the structure of the multi-faceted narrative how certain characters are unable to cope with the duality present
She describes the burning of her home as a message from God not to rely on materialistic things as she says , “And when I could no longer look, I blest His name that gave and took”(SITE). Although all of her belongings were taken from her she still had Gods faith to keep her together. In the death of her Granddaughter she
“Cathedral” is a short and warm story written by Raymond Carver. The author portrays the story in the first person narrative. Carver presents the interaction between an unnamed couple and a blind man by the name of Robert, who is visiting them. The story is told by the husband, the narrator, who is a prejudiced, jealous, and insecure man with very limited awareness of blindness. This theme is exposed through Carver’s description of the actions of the narrator whose lack of knowledge by stereotyping a blind man.
In the beginning she say’s that she liked to see just like everyone else: “Before I got my eye put out – I liked as well to see, As other creatures, that have eyes – And know no other way –”. She talks about different views she misses seeing but then she says that being able to see all of these things can ‘strike her dead’. In the last stanzas she says: “So safer – guess – with just my soul, Opon the window pane, Where other creatures put their eyes – Incautious – of the Sun –”. She is explaining that she is not cautious of the sun’s brightness affecting her sight because she lost her vision
This is also present in the fact that she is detached from her family members. A black feather with white band is said to signify home, harmony and balance. All that she wishes to be surrounded by but isn’t. It’s not that she can’t have balance at all it’s that she never has enough time to bring it in to light. The feather is covering one of her eyes to convey that she is blinded by this dream of one day settling down in one place and bringing the whole family together.
She considered it a weakness. After reading a verse from a book called “The Prophet” she shuts it and states, “I wanted nothing to do with the world of love; I thought wanting love was a weakness to be overcome. And besides, I thought to myself, the world of

And I found one book called Myths of the Greeks and Romans by Michael Grant. My goal for this paper is to try and inform you more about the great Artemis/Diana. Artemis was born to the parents of Zeus and Leto.
