At Sewanee, University of the South, I was a college freshman looking to find my calling. At Middle Tennessee State University, I was a statistic on a downhill projection. Here, at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, I can reach my full potential as an independent student laying the foundation for the realization of my dreams.

One of the reasons I am most interested in Saint Mary’s is the emphasis placed on student involvement--taking an interest in the academic and spiritual well-being of each individual. Amongst an average class size of 40 at MTSU, and as a member of a college with nearly 24,000 other students, I began feeling as if my presence was negligent in the grand scheme of my educational career. However, I also needed to find a school which I could afford on my budget. This lead me to Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. As a future accountant, I am worried about what effect going into debt now might have on future potential jobs, or even my entire career. Who wants to hire an accountant that has a low credit score, or red flags on their credit history? I was afraid that I was going to have to choose between a good education and an affordable education, but then I found Saint Mary’s. All of the reviews pertaining to Saint Mary’s focus on the affordability, quality of education, and dedication of faculty to imparting the best education possible and taking a genuine interest in the students they are working with. I do not think I could have found a better marriage of those three detrimental facets of the education process if I looked the world over. Saint Mary’s will not only be able to help me rediscover my love of learning, but also allow me to keep my head above water, financially, and better prepare for what lies
