St. Nicholas “Children around the world know and love St. Nicholas-for he brings gifts and treats in December…”as the St. Nicholas Center influences children and needy men and women since the 12th century. St. Nick helped many poor and needy people for many years and created a symbol of love and hope throughout the world. St. Nicholas was demonstrated as an influential person through the people he affected, his achievements, and his path to achieve his goal. St. Nick has affected people worldwide to be more generous around Christmas time. One demonstration of these effects is his work to show God’s love. He gave to the needy and the sick throughout the Roman Empire, Greece, and Turkey. The St. Nicholas Center states, “Nicholas used his whole inheritance to assist the needy, the sick, and the suffering.” This collection of people was a large category of the world at the time and still is. Nicholas is also an influential character by his achievements during his lifetime. One of these accomplishments was that he centered his whole life on Christianity. He conducted many kind works and helped many people around the statement, “sell what you own and give money to the poor.” Even after his life, he had 1000s of churches continueing to name their churches after him. For example, the St. Nicholas Center described, “Since the fifth century, the Eastern Church has revered St. Nicholas for the many miracles attributed to him…” St. Nicholas was also depicted in many paintings and other forms of art.
