Do you know what St. Patrick's Day is? Well if you don't know what it is, it's a day where we all wear green, feast, and celebrate when St. Patrick died, on March 17. The things that you can consider on St. Patrick's Day are the history, traditions, and why we celebrate the holiday.
One thing to consider on St. Patrick's Day is the history about the holiday. When St. Patrick was 16 he was kidnapped and taken to Ireland as a slave. St. Patricks also lived in the fifth century. According to the article The History of St. Patrick's Day it states, "He is considered to be the guiding saint of Ireland." The same article also says, "He later escaped, but returned to Ireland and was credited with bringing Chistianity to its people." This shows what St. Patrick is known for.

Patrick's Day is the traditions during the holiday. One tradition is the people in the of Chicago they dye the Chicago River green every year. In 1962 they put 100 pounds of green dye in the river and it kept the river green for a week. In the same article it says, "Each year on March 17, thousands of Irish-Americans gather on S.t Patrick's Day to share a traditional meal." The meal usually consists of corned beef and cabbage, but Irish people people in New York City replaced the corned beef for Irish bacoon ot save money.
Also one last thing to consider on St. Patrick's Day is why we celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Irish people have celebrated this holiday for the past 1,000 years. When the Irish people immigrated to Amarica they brought their tradtions here. In the same article it states, "Yet the first parade held to honor the holiday actually took place in the United States." And that is where it all started. The Irish always wear green on St. Patrick's Day to stay invisible to leprechauns. And if you don't wear green on St. Patrick's Day then you are pinched, which is what the leprechauns would
