St. Paul of Tarsus was a very significant missionary in the Catholic Church. Although he was not originally a Catholic he was one of the boldest missionaries. He escaped many near-death experiences with the help of God. Also, he traveled to many different places and he converted thousands of people. St. Paul of Tarsus had an interesting childhood, had a surprising job before he became a missionary, had a very colorful conversion story, and traveled to many different places to try and convert people to the Catholic faith. Paul of Tarsus became a young man he had a very surprising job before he became a missionary. After Saul returned home from Jerusalem and the Jewish law school, he began to hear about this guy named Jesus. People said that this guy had risen from the dead and that he had performed miracles as a sign that God had sent him. Saul was furious with this so he began to persecute these people who followed Jesus demanding that they give with their faith. Saul even took part in the stoning of St. Stephen, the Church’s first martyr, and was quite pleased after Stephen died. St. Paul of Tarsus had a conversion story. When Saul was traveling to Damascus to persecute some Christians there he was struck by a light so bright that it blinded him. Jesus called out to him and asked Saul why he was persecuting him and told Paul to go into the city. He went into a house in the city and stayed there. After a few days, a disciple of Jesus came and baptized him. Saul was suddenly filled with the Holy Spirit and he regained his sight.
