Since the dawn of governments in human society, there have always been leaders that are not the best. Some are dishonest, others are better followers than leaders, and some are just twisted. Two notable leaders that have sinned are Fidel Castro and Joseph Stalin. In the book, The Scarlet Letter, Hester Prynne is an unpopular social outcast who is convicted of adultery and is forced to wear the letter “A” embroidered on her chest to remind her of her crimes. In the Puritan society that Hester is living in, unusual and often harsh punishments are very common. Breaking the law during that time period has much more serious consequences than it would have today. He ruled with an iron fist over the vast Russian Empire. His ruling was so cruel that Nazi soldiers during WWII reported former people under Stalin rule would run at the soldiers so grateful that they were away from the Russian Empire. Stalin placed millions of his own citizens in exiled labor camps during his rule. Many of which would die there. Stalin was never tried for any of his crimes including the execution of millions of citizens who didn’t believe in Stalin’s form of government.
