In 1975 John Lennon performed one of the most famous versions of the song “Stand by Me”. The pop song “Stand by Me” is originally sung by Ben E. King and written by King himself, Jerry Leiber, and Mike Stoller, the song was very well received by the public and did very well on the charts; number 1 in the R&B charts, Top Ten hit on the U.S. charts twice during 1961, and ranked 122nd on Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Songs of all Time. The song also won one award, which was; 2012 Towering Song award. It was also used in the movie, “Stand by Me” which was named after the song and it also did very well when it hit the theaters, it ranked #2. The story behind the song is that Ben E. King had originally intended the song for his band called The Drifters, before he left the group one year before it was released in 1961. The whole meaning of the song is basically that everything is alright as long as you “stand by me”. Although each version of Stand by Me has its merits; Prince Royce’s version is the best because it has more rhythm, a different genre, and it is sung in both English and Spanish by Prince Royce.

The whole song is the same; except some parts are translated into Spanish but they still have the same meaning in English. The genre would be bachata, which is a style of romantic music, mostly common in the Spanish speaking countries. This cover has very different instruments, than the original and the cover by John Lennon, it has the piano, guitar, tambourine, violin, and maracas, although some of them are hard to identify. The harmony is very low and slow because like every “love song” they are not fast; they are slow and sung with passion. The chorus changes from English to Spanish but it is still the same.
