Standardized Testing Standardized testing has been a large factor of the United States Education system. These test measure students at certain levels of their education. These tests are supposed to measure the students based on a scale that the test makers make when designing the test. The idea behind standardized test is to keep track of student progress throughout their education and compare them to their peers. The formatting behind these exams are setting certain students up to fail, and that’s why I believe that the test needs to be changed to allow student with different thinking styles to excel on these exams. Visual learners are not the best test taker and are being set up to fail.

C from New Hampshire gave many teachers feel pressured to get their student ready for an exam instead of teaching. Teachers are forced to adjust their curriculum that mainly focused on the end of the year exam. In a addition on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver had a teacher that had a student who scored a perfect on the Florida standardized exam. But because she didn’t reach her expected score, which was counted negatively on his teaching record. With this its showing students and teacher even if you score a perfect on the exam you still didn’t do enough. This is not only affecting their self-esteem but they are going to not want to even attend
