Standardized tests have been used to predict student’s future outcome in life and how good of a job they will get. Standardized test define a student and basically where they will be in their adult lives. We have to wonder if parents have any effect on standardized testing. Parents think that testing might not help their children’s overall education because it causes them to be extremely stressed (Gazette, The (Colorado Springs, CO) 25 Sept. 2014:Newspaper Source. ). This can actually lead to depression. A lot of pressure is put on students to do well on all of these tests. (Herald-Times, (Bloomington, IN) 24 Sept. 2014:Newspaper Source) Students are only being prepared to take these tests, and a result is that after it, they will not remember how to do any of it anymore. It’s not always the students that cheat. Some teachers and other staff have gone as far as to changing the answers of students and bubbling in the correct ones in an effort to make the school district have a better appearance and higher test score averages. (13 Oct. 2014: 1-3. Transcript.) This has a higher chance of happening at schools that consist of wider variety of races and usually a larger number of minorities. This may be because of a program called “No Child Left Behind.” (13 Oct. 2014: 1-3 nprED) One of the most important goals is to make the students have at least the minimum score, which is also known as the proficiency score. This results in spending less time with the students that will have no problem with passing it than with the other kids. The students who are borderline passing will receive the greatest amount of attention, while those who have been deemed ‘hopeless’ had even less
