The Taliban in Under the Persimmon Tree, by Suzanne Fisher Staples, are like the real life Taliban. The Taliban terrorize people 's daily lives, the Taliban do not let children do things that most children do around the world. The setting of the book is Afghanistan/Pakistan. Najmah is the main character who losses her brother and father when the Taliban took them to fight for them. She lost her mother and her new born baby brother when the Taliban bombed her village that she lived in. The novel, and in real life, the Taliban are depicted harsh and cruel. Staples
