In the movie, Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan, the antagonist, Khan, possesses the idea of killing Adm. James Kirk. In the television series, Kirk banished Khan and his followers to a planet, and they have to survive on their own. Several of Khan’s companions tragically die, including his wife, and he holds Adm. Kirk responsible for their deaths. In connection with Khan’s emotions is Gilbert Wilson’s artwork: the Insanity Series. The Insanity Series consists of six images that display how a character falls into insanity. Khan’s emotions develop into complete insanity throughout the movie, and the development of his emotions resembles the same emotions that are being expressed in the Insanity Series images. Khan demands Kirk to hand over the information for Genesis after attacking his spaceship, but Kirk refuses. Since Khan is denied his request, he becomes frustrated with Kirk. This then causes his anger towards Kirk to grow while bringing him closer to insanity. After being unable to obtain the Genesis information from Khan, he goes looking for it. The Genesis information is located in a place called Regula I, and when Khan arrives there, he destroys the scientists that come between the path of him and the Genesis information. This particular scene corresponds with the third image within the Insanity Series. The third image depicts a man who has numerous teeth, and they are all sharp. This symbolizes how the man will attack and destroy anyone in his path, and that is why when Khan destroys the scientist, he resembles the third image. The fourth image portrays the image of a man who is stressed, angry, and determined. Khan mirrors this image when he learns that Kirk is still alive after two of his men try to kill him, and he attempts to destroy his spaceship, the Enterprise. Adm. Kirk tries to strategically position the Enterprise and place it at the correct speed so that Khan will be unable to catch it since his ship is damaged.
