In the story, “Fighter” by Walter Dean Myers, and throughout the story, Billy is fighting himself and life. First off, in beginning of the story it states on page 27, “Billy Gates told his wife that he was just going to the gym to work out. If he’d told her the truth, that he was going to fight again, he knew she would have cried.” I think this shows that Billy is going to fight, but he knows his wife does not want him to fight. But, he knows that he needs to fight, but not necessarily wants to fight.
Mockingjay The book that I read was Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. Mockingjay is a book about a girl named Katniss Everdeen, also known as the girl on fire, who is still alive after her home was demolished. Her close friend, Gale has also survived everything the Capitol has thrown at their district, district 12.
“There is a convoy of government soldiers coming our way.” Lizard snapped his cellphone shut and rammed it in his pocket. The phone was a badge of authority, proof that he was in command. “Who will volunteer to fight?” Once again, hands shot up.
Serpico, the New York City cop who couldn’t be bought by nobody. Serpico is a book that tells a story about a cop that works in New York, that wouldn’t take any brides from anybody and who had to deal with a very corrupt police department. There was a big gambling problem going on in New York and there was nothing being done about it so Serpico being such an honest cop decided he would try to get rid of the problem. In the following book report over Serpico, by Peter Maas, I will summarize the book’s contents and give my thoughts over the book.
In chapter 1 Jay Heinrichs, the author of the book, to uses examples from his family life to help introduce the central theme. He starts with an example of arguing with his son about toothpaste, Heinrichs’s argument with George reaches a clear resolution unlike some of the other examples given in the text. Heinrichs does this to show readers a way to argue while showing intelligence. Having established the importance of controversy and rhetoric in an everyday setting, Heinrichs states that rhetoric is an “unavoidable a part of life”. This is where he introduces the central idea of the book which is that rhetoric is necessary and unavoidable part of life he goes on to state that
Destiny of the Republic by Candice Millard was published in September 2011. This novel is based on Biography on the life of President James Garfield’s assassination and the medical bungling that led to his death at the age of 49. It is a fascinating look at a period of neglected American history. The author explains the reality of the incidents that had occurred to James Garfield the struggles that he had faced throughout the time that he was alive. James A. Garfield may have been the most remarkable man ever elected president.
Plot Summary The book and the film The Sweet Hereafter by Russell Banks is different from other stories as it tells the story by having flashbacks while it explains the situation in the present. The Sweet Hereafter is about an accident that had taken place in 1997 in the town Sam Dent. There was a man named Billy Ansel who would always follow the bus in his truck because his daughter and son were on the bus. He was calling Risa who also has a son on the bus to discuss what time they could meet later that night to make love.

I recently read Wednesday Wars by Gary Schmidt. This story’s setting is in a suburban area in Long Island. This story takes place in the 1960’s and the atmosphere of the book is relevant to that of what it would be like during that time period. At the beginning of the book, the author addresses who lives on the North Side and who lives on the South Side. Where people live is based off of what your last name ends in.
Throughout the entire book, the main character, Luke Reid, had many characteristic changes. Luke went from thief, to a nobody, to a person that cared. Starting from always being a thief is a tough place to start from. At the beginning of the book, Luke is a thief who is really good at picking locks.
A boy names luke skywalker was living with his adopted parents on his home planet tatooine where he was buying two droids named C3P0 and R2-D2. Luke took R2-D2 and C3P0 to clean them but R2D2 disapered. Luke went to look for R2-D2, when he finally found R2D2 he suddenly gets attacked by tusken raiders then the tusken raiders leave. Then after a while a man named obi wan kenobi finds him and brings him back to his house. When they get their obi wan give luke his father's lightsaber from the clone wars.
Second, I will introduce the characters in the book. There are four main characters. The first is Batman. He is a hero who fights evil and wears a bat-like costume.
This quarter I read the realistic fiction book, The Batboy by Mike Lupica. This book is a story about a 14 year old boy named Brian Dudley. Son of a former pitcher and an avid baseball fan, Brian gets his dream summer job: the bat boy for his favorite team the Detroit Tigers. When it seems like his summer cannot get any better, his all-time favorite player Hank Bishop is signed to the team. At the beginning, Hank is cold and yells at Brian a lot, but in the end they become friends.
Katniss Everdeen: Katniss Everdeen is the protagonist of the novel, and the story is told from her perspective. She is a 16-year-old girl who lives in District 12, the poorest region of a nation called Panem. She has straight black hair, olive skin and gray eyes. This is a common appearance for residents who live in the Seam.
Everyone will get consequences for some of their bad actions. What did you do to get your consequence? You probably didn't get one as bad as the boy in “The Fight” a story about a boy and a bully named Mike, get into a fight,. Adam Bagdasarian is the one who wrote this short story he shows us that you will get consequences for your actions. The boy who got into the fight got a lot of consequences for what he decided to do and lost things that were important to him.
