stargirl changed her name frequently because she felt like it. She also wore a long old dress that was down to her toes, she carried around a ukelele, also carried around a rat named Cinnamon. She sang happy birthday to people even though sometimes it wasn’t their birthday. Before Stargirl came to MICA High School the whole school was dull meaning no one was different. Everybody thought she was a weird girl, but she ended up getting the basketball team the Electrons
Chris sits on top of the roof, video taping and narrating what has been happening in the neighborhood the past 9 days since the military took over. A fence has been put around the neighborhood and a curfew has been enforced. Everything outside of that area is determined to be a "dead zone" everyone is either dead or infected. Chris is startled when he discovers a light coming from a house up on a hill in the distance. Chris tries to show Travis his footage of the flashing light but he dismisses it.
She was a regular performer on the Lawrence Welk Show, and she performed on the Grand Ole Opry. She even had a small recurring role in the 1970s television drama Starsky and Hutch. She was a wife, a mother, and a grandmother. She was a country music icon, and accomplished things that women in the industry had never done before.
In Stargirl, by Jerry Spinelli, the protagonist, Leo Borlock’s experiences cause him to change throughout the novel. In his first experience, Leo meets Stargirl—or at least everyone keeps talking about her when she arrives at school. She’s quirky and eccentric and has everyone wondering who she is. Leo and his friend Kevin agree at first to put her on “Hot Seat”, a show they run together where they interview students from their school. However, the next day, popular girl Hillari Kimble is telling everyone that Stargirl is a fake, planted to encourage and excite the students.
How does Stargirl show conformity in/to the school? Stargirl doesnt show any kind of conformity at all in the school because she will always get up during lunch and sing people Happy Birthday to them even though they dont want to be sang too. Stargirl would bring a pet rat to school every day even though that pets were not allowed in the school. Stargirl would ask the most randomest questions in class and usually they never had anything to do
She applies positive encouragement to those growing up with and around her. Her classmates chose her to be their homecoming queen, an honor which we believe was well deserved, and look to her for guidance and trust.
We live in a society that has increasingly demoralizes love, depicting it as cruel, superficial and full of complications. Nowadays it is easy for people to claim that they are in love, even when their actions say otherwise, and it is just as easy to claim that they are not when they indeed are. Real love is difficult to find and keeping it alive is even harder, especially when one must overcome their own anxieties and uncertainties to embrace its presence. This is the main theme depicted in Russell Banks’ short story “Sarah Cole: A Type of Love Story,” as well as in Richard Bausch’s “The Fireman’s Wife.” These narratives, although similar in some ways, are completely different types of love stories.
Stargirl is a new unique girl in the 10th grade. Stargirl is at a new school in and is really different from all the other kids. She doesn’t have very many friends either. Not because she is new, it is because she is different from everyone. The kids at the school is not use to all of the new girls actions, so it makes everyone feel like she is weird.
People know that Stargirl is different, Stargirl teaches me that being myself is perfect. She wears different clothes, she meditates, she does what makes her content and from my knowledge teenagers don’t usually do those things. In a way I am a Stargirl, I don’t do all the things that Stargirl does, because I am different in my own way. When Stargirl came into the cafeteria, she was different and stood out.
Stargirl, is a young adult novel by Jerry Spinelli. It is told by the first persons point of view, by Leo Borlock in Stargirls school. In this book Stargirl deals with issues of conformity versus individuality, and many problems with society around her. Just like in the "real" world outside, high schoolers usually feel pressures from society to conform, fit in, and avoid ruffling feathers. Sometimes people refer to this as peer pressure, but peer pressure sounds a little bit like isolated moments rather than one big ongoing pressure.
The Tragedy Within: Analyzing “How Far She Went” The dog wouldn’t hush, even then; never had yet, and there wasn’t time to teach him. When the woman realized that, she did what she had to do.
It is observed that larger salmon tend to be more likely to die during spawning season due to stranding in shallow waters, and predation by gulls and bears. There is a selection pressure against large body size despite the advantages it brings, such as being able to gather more territory, ability to carry more eggs. Quinn and Buck conducted an experiment in various creeks in Alaska over the span of two years to determine the extent of size selection and sexual selection contributing to the mortality of the sockeye salmon, Oncorhynchus spp., during spawning season. The research was conducted from 1997 to 1999, and they collected data by walking by the creeks and examining the dead salmon carcass. They measured the length of the fish, their
She will never be affected or restricted by anything. Stargirl is what us, humans, should be like, or was like. Her world is so clean and beautiful. She is like a white piece of paper, with nothing on it. Stargirl is herself.
I would definitely recommend, Stargirl to others. It’s a story that will appeal to all teenagers with a bully that everyone will love to hate. Hillari Kimble says “I had to admit, the more I saw of her, the easier it was to believe she was a plant, a joke, anything but real.” This shows that Hillari is the perfect antagonists because her actions against Stargirl makes the reader want to side with Stargirl. Readers will be on Stargirl’s side because it doesn’t what you look like and how you act, you should accept everyone for who they are.
