Very few people have the opportunity to work in their field of study after college. I desire to study sports medicine in order to become an athletic trainer. Sports medicine focuses on helping people improve their athletic performance and to demonstrate proper eating and health habits to perform at their highest ability. Not only will i work with sports team, i will work with normal everyday people and at health and rehabilitation centers. As an athletic trainer I will provide and administer first aid practices and share my knowledge with coaches and upcoming athletic trainers. I will strive to receive at least a master's degree in sports medicine. It is also a fast growing healthcare field. An athletic trainer will provide coverage at practices and every event from the beginning of the sport till the end of the season.

Being an athletic trainer will open new doors for anyone in the medical field. Many doctors like sports and love to be around sports but sit in office all day. Not only will i be able to work at a middle school level, i can work past a collegiate level and to a pro level. I can also become employed by hospitals, doctor practices, urgent care centers, the armed forces, rehabilitation centers, research facilities, and physical therapy centers.Sports medicine came into existence at Harvard University in the late 19th century. This was new to researchers and tool quite a while to discover. Harvard taught their students the significance of personal fitness and treatment of injuries, and the sports medicine department began to increase and have a spotlight shone on them. Later in the 1940s and 50s, they started appearing at football games on the sideline helping the
