Personal Statement
I obtained my PhD in Mining Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology. Currently, I hold a research scientist position with the Government of the State of Missouri. Prior to this, I held a research associate position in the Heavy Mining Machinery Research Lab in the Department of Mining and Nuclear Engineering. Prior to joining Missouri University of Science and Technology, I had worked for 6 years in several large surface/underground metal and non-metal mines in different positions as operations supervisor, mine engineer, senior mine engineer, and country manager. During my PhD, I had the opportunity to develop effective problem solving, analytical thinking, and professional communication skills. I have supervised, led, and trained team members in several research and class projects. During these projects, I have been able to develop and demonstrate my written and verbal communication skills, project management skills, and leadership and organizational skills. Also, since I have worked on multiple projects, with different scopes, I have learned how to adapt to new environments/tasks quickly and efficiently.
I have had many opportunities to develop planning, scheduling, time management, effective commutations, and interpersonal skills through both working individually and as a team member. I have always been eager to learn new skills from peers to grow my interpersonal skills. I have also gained a good understanding of the business and organization practices through both working in the industry and taking relevant courses such as project management.
