There are several opportunities to become involved in the field of healthcare. It took some thinking and reflecting on what I wanted to achieve in healthcare to conclude what careers I wanted. Before I knew it, I came up with my top career option, physical therapy. I knew that I wanted to continue my knowledge about the human body and its functions. This led me to choose a career in healthcare. One important aspect of my future career was forming a relationship with potential patients. I wanted to build a bond that would help motivate the individual to become well again. Physical therapy will allow me to accomplish that and more. A weakness about this career, though small, is it can be quite physically tasking. It can involve standing for long periods of time along with crouching and kneeling frequently throughout a day (“Why Become a Physical Therapist?”). Despite this weakness, this career is still my first option. The second career option that holds my interest has some of the same elements as a physical therapist; that career is that of an EMT or paramedic. This career spikes my interest because of the opportunity to help people in their time of need. The career seems quite fulfilling to be able to save the life of an individual in a time of crisis.
