The history of basketball began in 1891 in Spring Field, Massachusetts with Canadian physical education instructor James Naismith. The game became established fairly quickly. It became very popular in the 20th century, and is still progressing. Some new changes in the NBA rules are anti-flopping, referee hand signals, and NBA video rulebook. Some misunderstood rules in the NBA are fouling in the act of shooting, defensive three second violation, goaltending and basket interference, and delay of game. The top 8 teams in both the East and West divisions, qualify for small tournaments that lead up to 2 teams, battling in the NBA finals. The teams play the best out of seven, and whoever loses gets eliminated, and the team that wins moves up closer to the NBA finals. There are many famous players in the NBA like, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Kyrie Irving, Andre Iguadala, Derrick Rose, Draymond Green, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, etc., but Stephen Curry is one of the best known basketball player, for his skill. Stephen Curry doesn’t need anybody to screen for him, he can create his shot off the dribble. Curry averages about 30.0 points per game (ppg). Stephen Curry is also known for his quick release. Stephen Curry has one of the quickest releases in NBA history.

James Naismith was born in 1861 in Ramsay Township. James Naismith invented the game of basketball because he wanted a game that could be played indoors in a small space, unlike football. James Naismith went on to attend McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The first game was played with a soccer ball and two peach baskets used as goals.
