Imagine that science ruled the world, as it could be seen to rule the world that we live in today. As humans, we run towards new discoveries because we are engulfed in our in modern lifestyles. Modernity as described in Stephen Herring's lecture “Modernism and Postmodernism” is “... the belief that rationalism and technology are sufficient to solve all our problems. The idea is that materialism will take us where we need to go.” Also, in Stephen Herring's lecture "Supernatural vs Rational World Views," rationalism is “...the belief in the power of reason, observation, deduction, and logic.” I have seen the change that comes along with modernity and rationalism, at least to the point that I have witnessed it. Social media and internet is not as strange to millennial because we grew up during the invention of this modern technology. In my life, I do not believe in super naturalism, or the belief that world is molded by divine entities. The supernatural can be used to describe all the things that have no explanations, such as Gods, demons, angels, and ghosts. I believe that there are events that happen and can not be explained, but as time advances, people have found answers to these occurrences. For instance, common things today such as the seasons, lightning and other weather patterns were thought to be supernatural, only because we had no explanation, but now it has been defined using scientific evidence.
