Introduction The green Mile is a three-hour film released in December 19th 1999. Stephen King and Frank Darabont who also directed the film wrote it. The film narrates of the Death Rows in the 1930s with the main story revolving around a new prisoner charged with charged with child molestation together with murder and how the guards later on come to see him as a kind, gifted man with supernatural powers. The film has two main characters Rom Hanks who plays the role of Paul Edgecomb (the narrator and also a guard at the Death Row) and Michael Duncan playing the role of John Coffey (the gifted new prisoner). As the film begins, the warden Paul is seated in a retirement home presently and he is the one who takes the audience back to the main story in the Death Row during the time of Coffey. The film also introduces its character in a well-planned systematic way that correlates with the unfolding of the story. For instance at the beginning of the film, the narrator of the story is first introduced then we are introduced to the other characters like penny, ‘wild Bill’ and John Coffey as the story continues to unfold. The character ‘wild Bill’ is introduced just in time to bring about the realisation that it is not john that molested and killed the two girls. The locations it has used are able to bring out the error in which its story is based on. The costumes of the characters are well selected and totally relate to the individual roles. The background music and effects are also at par with the intended mood therefore giving the audience the right mood. The lighting in the film is also commendable as it shifts from mood to mood in order to display the actions with the right amount of emotional weight required (Bowden n.p). The characters also display emotions in the right way such that the audience is able to relate and feel what they are feeling. The camera perception is another positive attribute of the film. This is because it focuses on the right figures, people and places just enough to create suspense or the targeted type of feeling or emotion.
