‘“Family Values” Republican Senator Got His Mistress Pregnant, Then Told Her To Get Abortion” (the Baxter Ben-twitter). This is one tweet from the 2015 election and there are many more targeting the private lives of politicians. The tweets do not just involve their private lives, but they also involve comments from people on the actions and speeches that politicians are giving. By people tweeting these opinions and comments about politicians and their lives, this question arises: Are these tweets about politicians affecting the votes they are receiving from the voters? Around 2007, David Vitter was caught in the midst of a prostitution scandal. This scandal first became publicized in 2002. This was around the time Vitter was thinking about running for governor, but he later chose not to because of “stress”, which many people believe was a lie because this rumor was going around. He was elected senator around 2004 and three years later someone accused him of having a prostitution ring. One day in front of the press he asked for forgiveness from God, but never admitted to being a part of the prostitute scandal. The issue of Vitter and the prostitution scandal always gets brought up during every election he runs in. Each time, more information about the scandal becomes uncovered. Now, in 2015, a woman is coming out claiming she was one of the prostitutes. She is claiming that Vitter got her pregnant and forced her to get an abortion. The woman’s name was Wendy Ellis and they first met around the 1990’s. Wendy Ellis was a prostitute at the time and this affair lasted about 3 years. The …show more content…

Even we all these hateful tweets from society, both of these politicians have stood up for themselves and have not stopped fighting to win the election. When you look up either of their names on twitter, most of them consist of hateful comments. In my opinion by people commenting all these hateful tweets, in some way it is helping them become better. In life you will meet people that will not agree with some of the ideas you have, but you have to learn to live with it. Carson and Vitter have all these hateful comments, but it does not bother them. Since they are both still fighting in their elections it proves that there are still many people that do believe in them. They both would not be able to come this far without having support. By people commenting negatively on their lives is not effecting there
