The lottery has been around for centries. Numerous people have entered and won then ecstatic, but others did not want to be in or want the lottery. Especially if you lived in a small village in 1948 on June 27th. Where every year the lottery was held in the towns square with all the towns people, hoping that what they were about to do would bring good crops this year. This was their tradition, but maybe tradition is not always a good thing.There are many villagers but the two that caught my eye were Mr. Warner & Mrs. Hutchinson. Mr. Warner believed what the lottery is, it is a rafal and if your family name has a black spot on theirs then they get stoned to death by the village as a sacrifice for good crops for the year. He was old fashioned and didn't want the lottery to change. He voiced his opinions often about the lottery especially when it came to other other towns quitting the lottery. Old Man Warner snorted “pack of crazy fools, he said... Hutchinson or Tessie was late to the lottery. While the lottery is going on her husband gets called she remarks “Get up there Bill, Mrs. Hutchinson said and the people near her laughed.” The lottery is tense but it seems that she is light hearted. If so then that changes when she finds out it’s Bill that has the black spot on his slip. She starts debating the unfairness of the lottery in a loud manner in the front of the townspeople.
