Watership Down Epigraphs Watership Down by Richard Adams is an amazing fictional book. Richard Adams tends to write fiction, science fiction and fantasy books and he writes many books about animals. Writing about rabbits was one of the most unique writings that he has ever done. The way that Mr. Adams wrote this book made the rabbits seem like they were actual people. This was one of the best aspects from his book because it gave you an understanding of what they were actually going through. We can make the life like connection with the rabbits because we have all heard of wars, seen death, and known the struggle of escaping life.

This epigraph is perfect for this chapter for many reasons but let’s talk about what happens in the chapter first. This chapter was mainly about Silverweed and Fiver because of their “dispute.” The Watership Down rabbits have made it away to a new place and they want to make a good impression so they can stay with the other rabbits. When they get to the new place they hear about an amazing poet whose name is Silverweed. When Silverweed talks to everyone it seems like he is almost attacking Fiver in his words. Fiver ends up trying to run but Hazel and Bigwig stop him and talk him down. In actuality Watership Down relates politically and socially to our world today. Politically it makes the connection of different governments for example Watership Down was democratic and Efrafa was more of a Hitler style. This is a one person government where everyone does what you say. Socially we connect with the war and survival aspects because everyone has dealt with these in their lives. War teaches you to work as a team and to conquer the enemy but you have to survive in order to do that. When the rabbits run through snares they often do not survive it is like their lives are in a battle
