There are several themes to the movie, Zootopia, however, there are two important ones that need to be addressed. The first and most common theme of Disney movies is do not give up. If you were to ask a child what they thought the theme of the movie was, it would definitely be this one. Even if an accomplishment seems impossible, Zootopia teaches us that if one simply does not give up on their dreams and believes he/she can succeed, it is very much possible. This movie is recognized as an integrated society, however, there were obvious places for each society. The bunnies, who are the prey, are considered “cute” and are thought as animals who do not belong in the big city, let alone, on the police force. In the movie, both predator and prey stereotype each other. As a bunny, Judy is a target of stereotypes; this results in Judy being viewed as incapable of being anything other than a carrot farmer. To fulfill her dream, she must ignore what others define her as and realize she can do it without them. Nick Wilde is stereotyped because he is a fox. Because foxes are considered untrustworthy, everyone dismisses him as sly. Because of how he was perceived, Nick Wilde was more negatively affected by the stereotype he was given. Since he received the title as the “sly fox,” he acted in that role. Children today need to learn the important things in life should not be determined by skin color, social class, or gender. Someone should be employed because their skill and motivation to do a good job will benefit everyone else. If you hire someone, but they are not 100% committed to the job you gave them, they will not do a better job than say the person who actually wanted to be hired in the first place. Stereotypes should not be applied to today’s society because, in the end, we are all the same in God’s eyes, and that is really all that matters. If you decide to let your kid watch this movie, have them learn from it, explain to them why the message of the movie is important and relevant to life
