I believe that Steve Harmon is innocent. There are many reasons to believe this. For one “bobo” Evans placed him at the crime scene but Mr. Evans and Mr. King according to Mr. Evans testimony were on drugs. So Steve Harmon could have just happened to be their. Since both Mr. Evans and Mr. King were on drugs i don’t believe that their statements are valid.

While some people believe that Steve Harmon was not guilty, in reality, he was guilty because he had to be trained by O’Brien, he was at the drugstore during the crime, and he changed his story. The first reason why Steve is guilty is becasue he had to be trained by his defense attorney, Kathy O’brien. ”We’re going to play a little game.
In my English class I read the book called Monster written by Walter Dean Myers. It was about a young man called Steve Harmon who was arrested for allegedly being a part of a crime gone horribly wrong, which sadly resulted in a man losing his life. It also spoke about what Steve had to endure throughout that entire process of that trail. In the end even tho Steve knew that the crime will occur he still was found not guilty. I believe that Steve Harmon should have been found not guilty because, he did not give a signal and he also did not receive any part of the money that taken from the robbery.
Throughout the book Steve shows signs of being scared. for example, when he is mopping the floor with his other inmates Steve starts feeling nausea looking at the rest of his inmates wearing the same suit he is wearing and doing the same activity as him. Steve’s biggest conflict in the story is himself. He starts feeling his self doubt
His actions are heinous. Monster is a label Steve wants to distance himself from. The title Monster is significant because it represents the evil of murder and the theme of the book. It shows that if one man is capable of killing another in cold blood, then he is not a human but rather a monster.
Steve is in jail waiting on his trial for robbery and murder. He is writing in his journal. The book said, “I walked into a drugstore to look for some mints, and then I walked out…” (Myers 140). The quote explains that Steve is a monster because he said in his journal that he was in the store that day.
Do you get along better with a certain parent more than you do with the other. For example, maybe you get along with your mother more than you get along with your father because she is more understanding. In the book Monster by Walter Dean Myers the main character is named Steve Harmon. He is in court because he is being accused of being involved in the murder of a drugstore owner, Mr. Nesbitt. Steve’s parents each visit Steve at different times, and both have different views on whether he is guilty or innocent.
Steve Harmons actions depicted his characteristics and we can, therefore, conclude that Steve Harmon is a liar as he lied under oath. Steve was also a guilt-ridden man ashamed of his actions. People who disagree may claim that Steve was undoubtedly innocent as Lorelle Henry, a witness, declared that there were only 2 people, proven to be James King and Bobo Evans, inside the store who eventually murdered Mr.Nesbitt. This may be a strong argument because it shows that Steve was not in the drugstore and could be really innocent. On the contrary, however, Steve’s job was just supposed to be a lookout and ensure that the drugstore was clear of cops or anyone inside.
This was never fully proven, yet King says “I need to get paid, man. I ain’t got nothing between my butt and the ground but a rag” (Myers 50). Steve responds with “I hear that” (Myers 50). This shows the reader that they both needed money and were willing to do something for money. This proves that if Steve participated in the robbery, he would have been compensated, but he never was.
Perceptions from others can be cruel. Criminals are often thought of negatively by themselves and are also disrespected by others in society. Furthermore, the text explains Steve’s views of himself during and after time in prison from first person point-of-view. It is natural for people to categorize and judge others. In terms of judgement, people often rely on different ideas and stereotypes that affect their opinions and may twist their perceptions of justice and how it should be dealt. Hinton, justice is heavily influenced by prejudice demonstrated by people judging others based on race, wealth, and social group stereotypes. Initially, the idea of justice is affected by racial stereotypes and prejudice.
The scenario was based more in the past. What made it seem like it was in the past was there no panic button of any sort. Nowadays, when a bank robbery is in progress there is always a button under each merchant teller’s desk to get ahold of law enforcement. As mentioned in the story the building did have an alarm system. The robber mentions if any alarm goes off they would shoot them.
His wording shows that he doesn’t know who he is and therefore believes he is a Monster as Ms. Petrocelli calls him. He accepts people’s judgments as his self-truth. Even though, he, himself, accepts the worst he still wants people to perceive him as a good person, especially his mom. Steve’s mom’s words cut deeper in him because his mom believes he didn’t do it while he knows he did. 5 days into the trial, his mother comes by and talks to him hoping to make him feel better, “I could still feel Mama’s pain.
