Steve Jobs Speech Rhetorical Analysis

In this speech, Steve Jobs makes three main points that all lead up to the same thing; living a happy life. Jobs writes about this topic because he knows every aspect of it whether it's getting fired from the only thing he’s known to being six months away from dying. Jobs tells these three stories to cover the things he has found that have made him happy throughout his life, not what made him richer not what made his company get more sales, he talked about the aspects of life to enjoy.

Most people can relate to being fired before, or at least having something taken from them that they loved. Jobs takes the risk that the audience would relate to this; then he talks about the realization he still loved what he did. The pathos in this is the story that everyone loves, the comeback kid. Jobs goes back and doesn’t give up and ends up more successful than he ever was before. And he ends the story with him being happy with everything in his life.
Jobs uses a great combination of pathos and logos; with the use of his pancreatic cancer he emphasises the pathos in this story and creates the reality of his quote “If today were the last day of my life,would i want to do what I'm about to do today?” this backs up what he says once again, with this repetition shown it shows Job is not willing to make a point without providing reliable evidence from the man himself.
