Zachary Jaglowski Prof. Ghen Zando-Dennis Media Literacy Cinematheque # 2 The film, Kinderblock 66: The Return to Buchenwald is not just the account of four men who returned to Buchenwald, it is the story of the 1000's of boys who were imprisoned in the Nazi concentration camp called Kinderblock 66. The four survivors tell the story for the 1000s of boys who survived and those who unfortunately died. It's a powerful story of the survival and humanity. I have seen movies and was taught in history class about the World War II and the Nazi's concentration camps, however, this film documentary stands alone in its telling of the children of the Holocaust and the humanity of a group of men that made a difference in their young lives. Who
Although both film are important because it’s about anti-semitism. For instance, in “School Ties” when everyone in the school started harassing David for being a Jew. and in “Swing Kids” it showed the Gestapo kicking out Jewish people out of their houses. But I would recommend both of these film to others because it shows that not all Jews are bad, and after watching both films you would think of what made the Nazi hate Jews. And thinking about why people are judging them by their
The Holocaust serves as a reminder of the devastating consequences ofhate and prejudice and highlights the importance of promoting tolerance and understanding. The ongoing conflicts and humanitarian crises around the world today are a stark reminder that we still have a long way to go in achieving this goal. The events in the memoir also underscore the importance of bearing witness to history and ensuring that the atrocities of the past are never
I think he enjoys creating projects such as “Diary of A Mad Black Women” because those type of actions is taking place in today’s generation. He is certain that others would enjoy watching it, that is exactly why he continues to produce such outstanding movies. Even though his creations are very similar to each other, each movie has it’s own unique purpose. Although, the
Throughout Schindler’s List by Steven Spielberg, Oskar Schindler’s character has changed drastically. At the beginning of World War II, Schindler was a womanizing, selfish and manipulative man. After seeing the process that he watched the Jews go through, he realizes the way the Nazis have treated them is unacceptable. Towards the end of the war Schindler has grown due to the experiences he has been through. These experiences have made him a decent, unselfish, and manipulative man.
Not all of Hitler’s schemes succeeded. Yet surprisingly, many believe so. His intent of world domination and plans such as collecting Jewish artifacts to build a museum of an extinct Jewish race was unsuccessful. So to this day, the Jewish population is large in number. A main reason for this being the significance placed on family and culture within the Jewish community.
The Holocaust was a destruction of many people. There were some people who were resistant against the holocaust. Such as Oskar Schindler who may have just been one person but made a huge difference by saving a thousand people. These heroic people saved many lives and made a great change. Oskar Schindler was born April 28, 1908, in the city of Svitavy, in the Sudetenland now know as Czech Republic.
It is estimated around 6 million Jews died during the Holocaust, each death leaving a scar on modern history, each death showing the monsters we all can be to our own people, or just revealing the monsters we truly are. Harsh changes were put on the Jews from the loss of basic human rights like freedom to the loss of lives. This inhumane treatment was done by their own kind, no sympathy, no empathy,
He is great because he is telling the story of the holocaust. He is spreading the word warning people so that it never happens again and is never forgotten in the vast desert of time. He had the strength to pull through and he knew that in order for the holocaust to never be forgotten their needs to be somebody to tell the story. To tell of the horrors and crimes that were committed, He had to revisit those horrible memories in order to tell us which makes him a great man a hero. Even though he knew his dad wasn’t going to make it he kept pushing using all his strength in that maybe the tiniest of chances his dad would survive but he also knew that at one point he would need to stop and leave him just like the boy in the car with the bread who killed his dad.
He made films to express his personality. A lack of funding was a limitation for him to make his films, but he was still able to reach something that he wanted in his film. Characters he has made were the outcome of his deliberation. For example, Stranger than Paradise is one of his successful films, and it really pulls audiences to think about their life. He made movies not for input
“The most amazing thing for me is that every single person who sees a movie, not necessarily one of my movies, brings a whole set of unique experiences. Now, through careful manipulation and good storytelling, you can get everybody to clap at the same time, to hopefully laugh at the same time, and to be afraid at the same time” (“Steven Spielberg Quotes”). As the inspiration for how many films are produced, Steven Spielberg is a director, producer, and writer. Having won 3 Academy Awards, several of his movies have set box office records, including Jaws and E.T. the Extra Terrestrial. Steven Spielberg revolutionized the film industry through unique camera work and new subject matters in movies.
I am not Jewish and I do not know anyone is Jewish but I have seen this all before in movies and on television. That being said, this is a beautifully rendered memorial and history of the Holocaust. This was amazing and touching. I cannot even put into words how I felt on this tour. I learned way more than I thought I had ever known.
This further supports that this marvelous producer helped to build up the countries economy by bringing in millions of dollars for the film
People to this day still find horror and beauty in this film, finding this film an extraordinary masterpiece executed by director, Steven Spielberg. Some people do disagree with the images shown in the film, however, as a whole, the entire community who thoroughly enjoys films agree the accuracy of this film that did not hold back any viewing content truly added greatly to the film. Perhaps the most touching reaction came from the place where it all started. The premiere of Schindler’s List in Germany with a room filled with 800 people – Germans and Jews, diplomats and artists, film makers and people who had known Oskar Schindler when he lived there (Whitney, 1994).
Wes Anderson is a very well-known and established director in his field. Over the years, Anderson has developed a unique style of film and a basic formula for how each film will look in the end. The film The Grand Budapest Hotel showcases a lot of Anderson quirks from the vibrant colors to the tiny miniatures that he used to show the landscape. The Grand Budapest Hotel is uniquely Wes Andersons and really showcases his style.
