When Spielberg directed Saving Private Ryan, it became an immediately success as well as a critically acclaimed WW2 movie which sparked the interest of everyone. “The next year, however, produced what many believe was one of the best films of his career: Saving Private Ryan (1998), a film about WW2 that is spectacular in almost every respect…” (Spielberg Bio). Saving Private Ryan was very well made, bringing awareness to how brutal and depressing WW2 really was. With another successful hit, Schindler’s List, Spielberg was able to bring others stories and experiences to the light of film. “The film relates a period in the life of Oskar Schindler, a Sudeten German businessman, during which he saved the lives of more than a thousand mostly Polish-Jewish refugees from the Holocaust by employing them in his factories during WW2…[Schindler’s List]Often listed as one of the greatest films ever made…” (Spielberg Bio) Many movies Spielberg brought to light, especially those of which are historically accurate, became very successful because of the story and hardships many people faced during the WW2 era, and because of the director narrating the story. Spielberg’s historically accurate movies proved and brought to light that not only does the film industry have to focus on action, science fiction, and raunchy dramas, they [Hollywood] can focus on doing historical reports of actual events in
