Steven Spielberg Steven Allan Spielberg is a highly renown Hollywood director of a vast amount of blockbuster movies. He is often referred to as being one of the greatest directors in film history. Born on December 18, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Steven Spielberg has been an amateur filmmaker since he was a child. He went on to become the enormously successful and Academy Award-winning director of many recognisable films such as E.T., Indiana Jones and Jurassic Park. Spielberg has had an undeniable influence on the film industry during his prosperous career that will be forever remembered in film history. He has created this impact through his deeper understanding of humanity and how he has portrayed it in his films. Although his collection of movies mainly consist of over the top fictions that are in ways very farfetched, he also has tackled true stories which other directors have shied away from and in doing so, has presented accurate recreations of important happenings whilst keeping the emotion and morals of the story intact. His movies, Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Jaws paved way for a new generation of film. Without Spielbergs use of CGI, great films such as The lord of the Rings and even Titanic may have not been as amazing as they were. Spielberg is considered to be in tandem with George Lucas as the fathers of CGI. The CGI seen in Jurassic Park was so groundbreaking that the awe it inspired has generated just over one billion USD to date. The techniques used in this film to make the dinosaurs look so lifelike has paved the way for CGI used both in movies and in games.
