The three characters I chose are Gemma from Stolen, Vivian from Orphan Train, and Mark from The Martian. I chose Gemma because of her mission for survival. I chose Vivian because of the obstacles she had to go in through her childhood and her mission to find a family. I chose Mark because of his mission to stay alive while being alone for so long. They all had a mission and something in their lives to overcome.
One character I chose is Gemma from the book Stolen. I chose Gemma because during her mission and throughout the book we saw her grow. I believe that her mission throughout this book is to survive. Ty had been watching her for years and she was put in that desert for a reason. Gemma recognized that she had to survive, but did not know how she was going to do it. I chose Mark because his mission is to return back to earth. Mark gets stuck on the planet Mars when his Crew leaves him thinking he was dead. Mark has to keep thinking positive because the chances him surviving on Mars for a long time by himself are very small. Mark finds a rover and starts to communicate with NASA again. There are some essentials that Mark needs such as food, oxygen, and water. Mark recognizes and accepts that he is stuck on this planet with very little, but he never gives up hope. He starts to do the impossible and survives on Mars while they are trying to start a rescue team back down on Earth. Attempts to get supplies to Mars fail. So without telling the leader of NASA a rescue team goes up. They save Mark after he was on Mars alone for years and head back down to earth. Mark starts off lost with very little but he keeps thinking positive and never gives up hope. Mark accepted the fact he was stuck on Mars and did the impossible out of a horrible situation. He shows that he got stronger throughout the book because one bad thought and he could have just given
