The book, Gym Candy, was written by Carl Deuker. Although as little as I read, he is my favorite author of all time. I really enjoyed reading this book for a few reasons. For one, I could relate to what Mick, the main character, was going through. Throughout Gym Candy, I really enjoyed how intense the story would become at times.
Another way the author shows the lesson is using description. For example, “Get away from my granddaughter! Grandfather stood in the doorway in his nightshirt, his rifle aimed at the heart of the man who hit me”(144). This is significant because the author is describing the event of Grandfather trying to protect Mattie. Describing the event allowed the theme to be more visible to the reader because of extra details.
The story is trying to show that don’t take the little things in life for granted.
Knowing is good, but knowing all is better. Based on an actual incident, Gary Paulsen's book Nightjohn showcases this life lesson. In the story young Sarny, a slave, is taught to read and write by a fellow slave, John. She knows that as a slave that reading is dangerous. But she takes that chance, because she knows wisdom is sharper than any weapon.
One lesson is to not let others control your life. Another lesson is letting people help one’s self. The final lesson is to limit the amount of alcohol one consumes. Firstly, a lesson learned from reading the novel, is that one should not let other people control one’s life.
You learn life lessons almost everywhere you go and anything you see. In movies, from people, online and especially in books. For me, the book “Unspeakable” by Caroline Pignat is filled with different main ideas and life lessons everyone should know. But the one I think is the most important is that losing someone isn’t the end of your world.
People can change and learn from their mistake. Learning from mistakes can influence people for the better. Reef learns his lessons in the “The First Stone” by Don Aker. Reef is in the North Hills group home for a year because of the Judge’s sentence. While at the group home, Reef begins to learn the importance of respect, the need for self-reflection and how important are true friendships.
"Lucy in the Sky" takes place in Santa Monica, California. Lucy is a shy, quiet girl who never had many friends at all. She is very focused on her schoolwork and enjoys her parents company. Lucy meets Ross at yoga class and discovers that he is a surfer. Ross introduces Lucy to marijuana at the beach in his pickup truck.
Life is filled with mistakes and errors and it is up to that person to change it by learning from it. In the novel, A Lesson before Dying by Ernest J. Gaines, the most important lesson to learn before dying is to accept things that are right and change things that are wrong , to live the best possible life you have. The lesson in the transformation can be seen in the transformation of the three main characters, Jefferson, Grant and Tante Lou throughout the novel. Firstly, the lesson to accept things and try to change things, so you can live the best and possible life, can be demonstrated through Jefferson’s life in the novel.
In conclusion, the short story "There Will Come Soft Rains" by Ray Bradbury includes many possible life lessons that the reader can learn about such as the world keeps spinning even if one were to fade, everything goes through a cycle and there is always a new

Unforgiving Life… Everyone learns lessons in life. These lessons can come from a book, experience and legends. Books have a theme that you can learn from that is what make books important. The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams and A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry both have the themes of responsibility, family and dream that runs through the main characters Tom Wingfield from The Glass Menagerie and Walter Lee Younger from A Raisin in The Sun.
The lesson being referred to is sometimes you have to do things that you don’t really want to do. In The Crucible, this can be seen when Proctor was convicted. Due to his conviction, he was morally forced to confess so he could keep his honor. He knew his confession would result in his death, making him hesitant to do so, but he decided that his moral obligations were more important than his life. This was a rather extreme circumstance to be put into to learn a lesson when a normal instance of this lesson could be something like doing homework.
Another lesson is that a blind person may see more than someone who is not blind.
