An English teacher deals with a student who has a bad attitude, as he tries to teach him and the other students respect.

BRIEF SYNOPSIS
FRANK (35) is an English teacher at Springdale Middle School in New York. It’s the first day of school and Frank meets his students. They are a diverse group of kids from various backgrounds and ethnicities, including SAMUEL, a boy with a bad attitude.
Frank tries his best to teach the kids the value of respect. He tells each student to write a self-portrait of themselves and share it with the class. Sam has trouble with the project and brings in family pictures.
However, when Sam gets upset with another boy, he accidentally hits another student and he’s suspended. However, Frank becomes concern because he learns that Samuel might be sent back to Ukraine by his father. Frank doesn’t want this to …show more content…

In the current structure, the story not only doesn’t define a strong enough goal, but the story’s pace should be enhanced. Story is about conflict and tension. The tension should rise. Currently, the story’s structure relies too much on dialogue and the conversations and events are not always essential to the plot. Dialogue tends to slow the pace.
Every scene and all dialogue should be purposeful and convey or reveal information about the plot or about the characters. Watching Frank teach words and the meanings of certain words is overdone and the scenes are too long. They don’t create enough compelling tension or pivotal plot beats.
At one point, when a student mentions that Frank might be gay, the audience thinks the story will be about a gay teacher, but this storyline is not development. Then when one of the student’s mother is deported the audience thinks maybe this is what the real story is about, but then the story focuses elsewhere on Samuel.
