Archetypes in a story can be identified in many ways. Symbols, character archetypes, and plot archetypes are represented in the story. In The Story of an Hour, different archetypes exist and are shown to help understand the story better. Basically, through an archetypal lens, “The Story of an Hour” by Kate Chopin written in 1894, it’s about a woman who receives news about her dead husband and she starts to cry, but then she feels happy and different emotions flow through. Mrs.Mallard seems to be having different feelings when she hears the news about what happened to her husband. For instance she starts to weep and then all of a sudden, she’s happy. An example of an archetype could be a damsel in distress. Her husband is portrayed as a villain
