The story of an hour by Kate Chopin I have chosen to analyze the story of an hour by Kate Chopin some of the areas I am going to analyze is the independence that Mrs. Mallard believe she was going to have. The other is her unhappiness in her marriage. This is a story of a woman how believes for a short period of time that she does not have to depend on a man to care for her. One event in the story that shows unhappiness is when Mrs. Mallard sister and close family friend tell her about her husband death. Mrs. Mallard was so surprised by this news that she cried in her sisters arms, she then went to her room to be alone. While sitting in the room she was crying on and off thinking when she started to thinking about being free and independent.
