"Story of an Hour", short story written by Kate Chopin, relates how a misunderstanding leads to a tragic situation. Mrs. Mallard, the protagonist, is described as a sick woman that sometimes loved his husband, a clue provided by the author that can make the readers understand, in a certain way, why she had an unpredictable reaction when she received the news that her husband died in a train accident. After receiving the news, she starts planning how her life is going to be in a future. She felt happy and started to experience freedom in her soul and mind, however those feelings only lasted a short time; more specific for an hour, as the title suggests.
