All Eyes on Him One person. 7 bullets. One dead man. The world was in awe as hundreds of news channels were broadcasting the death of Tupac Shakur. He was gunned down on September 13, 1996 at the age of 25.
Since the majority of gangster rap’s listeners weren’t from the areas that it was depicting, they formed a cartoonish perception of those areas and media companies capitalized on that. From newscasts, to movies, to tv shows, if a person was from a place like Compton they were expected to throw up gang signs, sag their pants and carry a gun. The film Straight Outta Compton tries to present a normalized depiction of N.W.A.'s origins and the environment that bred them but it still features exaggerations. Snoop Dogg chose to celebrate his 44th birthday and the launch of their new company at the same time. Hip Hop Wired reports that the festivities took place at the Moonlight Rollerway skating rink in Glendale, California. The hip-hop group, N.W.A, is a group of guys known by their stage names, Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, Ice Cube, MC Ren, and DJ Yella, who are all from Compton, California. Compton, during this time, was known to be one of the worst cities to live and grow up in because of gangs, drugs, crime rates, and police brutality. Police brutality has been around for years now, and in Compton, it was extremely unacceptable for many reasons. From my understanding, police brutality is when a police officer harms or kill an individual who is unarmed.

He was raised and born in Compton, California on June 17, 1987. His parents had moved to Compton from Chicago to escape the city's gang culture. Kendrick Lamar does not work with a group or band he is a independent person who works on his own. Lamar has won some big awards such as eight MTV awards, five Grammy awards and ten BET Hip Hop awards.
Straight Outta Compton is a 2015 drama film that was directed by Felix Gary Gary and produced by original N.W.A members Ice Cube and Dr. Dre, as well as many others. In 1987, five young men put their anger and frustration about life through music in one of the most dangerous places in America, Compton, California. Straight Outta Compton tells a story of how these young men stood up to authorities who tried to keep them down. In doing so, they formed the most dangerous group called N.W.A. They use their music to expose the truth about life growing up in the projects.
Gangster Rap is by definition “Gangsta rap or gangsta rap is a subgenre of hip hop music with themes and lyrics based on the "thug" or "gangsta" lifestyle.” (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gangsta_rap) The “gangsta” life style has been glamourized by the media. On the media the gangsta lifestyle is nice cars, lots of money, drugs, and parties but that is far from the truth. In reality the real life style is full of violence, drugs, poverty, racism and danger at every corner.
