Dave Cullen spends much of the beginning of the book going in depth about the community, which of course includes the school but more importantly the people. Cullen describes the victims lifes and what was important to them. He humanises them so we can better have empathy, knowing they were people with good hearts and lives just like ours. As he tells us more about the victims it forces the audience to except that they were real people, not just names. In this way he appealed to the audience's sense of pathos, making the audience realize the depth of the massacre.
“There’s no reason that the zip code you’re born into should determine your success or failure in school.” Whoever has said this quote, is completely correct. Children have a more innocent outlook on life. They do not yet know the difference between a good or bad education, and do not know they’ve been set up for failure. The documentary, Waiting For Superman, revolves around children who were born into an insufficient education zone with parents who can’t resolve the issue for various reasons.

Some background information about Rosetta Stone is that it is a company whose name comes from the Rosetta Stone found in Egypt. The stone was used to help decipher hieroglyphs and their goal is to sell their software to help with language acquisition.
I have always loved this community, and for some reason, I cannot put my finger on it as to why. However, this new theme you have just makes it so much better. Here 's the thing, I dislike dark themes. However, the way you have everything layed out and how the colors just complement each-other, I am loving what I am seeing. The first thing I notice is the background of the header along with the very professional looking logo, very well done!
In the essay "We're Safer Post 9/11" written by Eric Holder, Janet Napolitano, and James Clapper, a very intelligent, well descriptive work is published based on the days after the tragic 9/11 event. We all know that 9/11 was a very sad day and it destroyed the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a field in Shanksville, Pa. The writers gave great examples as to how the United States has increased the safety of our country. We have took down most of the people and groups affiliated with the 9/11 attack and that is a great achievement accomplished. The attempt of proving how we have increased our safety was well expressed.
April 12th, 2015, Easter Sunday, in the LDS General Conference Jeffery R. Holland, Elder of Quorum of the Twelve Apostles bore his testimony of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Holland was born into the church, studied the Christianity faith, occupied as Institute teacher in the Church Educational System and was called to serve as an apostle by the prophet on June 23, 1944. Elder Holland testimony is bore to the members of the LDS church and non-members worldwide through the location of the meeting, television and radio broadcasting. Elder Holland's purpose was to give information and/or answer questions about the Atonement of Jesus Christ, also to explain how it can help us with returning to Heavenly Father in the highest celestial glory. Atticus Finch’s final speech to the jury in Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird inspires readers of all ages. As any book critic will tell you Atticus gives one of the greatest speeches in literary history in order to defend Tom Robinson. In order to accomplish this feat Atticus applies the three appeals logos, ethos, and pathos.
In the introduction, Henry emphasizes that he is patriotic towards Britain. He claims he has a different view on how to resolve the problem. He attempts to bring a different viewpoint to the audience. He first references the Bible saying, "different men often see the same subject in different lights." By using the word "light", he shows that he is aligned with God's purpose.
The creative piece presented was written to respond to major themes developed in the film Blade Runner (1982). One of these themes presented is the moral issue regarding the creation of synthetic humans. To address this the topic question “The real or synthetic: do we even care?” was utilised. This theme is continuously prevalent in the film as the Replicant protagonists’ fight a profound battle to establish themselves as more than slaves for mankind, as it is “Quite an experience to live in fear, isn't it?
A Time to Kill is a remembered experience that brings up the question, “Is a father justified to kill the young men who raped his daughter?” There are many fallacies used throughout this trial, such as, Appeals to Trial, Ad Hominem, Authoritative Warrant, Hasty Generalization, Claim of Fact and many others. The trial also used Ethos, Pathos and Logos to get its point across. If there were no fallacies, ethos, pathos or logos used, then the trial wouldn’t have been as strong as it was illustrated to be in the movie.
These two historical examples give evidence of how conspirators can misinterpret information, and unknowingly use the conjunction fallacy to support their conspiracy. Since there is evidence of conspiratorial thinkers being victim to this, it is probable that Herndon may have been subject to this idea as well. This would explain in part, why an educated scientist would believe a conspiracy that doesn’t agree with science. Herndon’s appeals of logos, ethos, and pathos also prove how readers of his article are enticed and more likely to believe his article.
If giving out false information to persuade an audience is untruthful then why as a society we are still reaching for the untruthful? Persuasion is alternatively what all advertisements are aiming for no matter if it is for a product or idea. Over the use of methods like ethos, pathos, and logos advertisements become more appealing and compelling to everyday people. War propagandas especially utilize the methods, ethos and pathos to support the idea of glorify American and demonize enemies. The credibility of normal citizens was demonstrated throughout war propagandas to help develop their philosophy.
In Stranger Things, the character of Mike Wheeler embodies the power of hope to inspire and motivate us. Mike's unwavering belief in the possibility of finding his missing friend, Will Byers, is a powerful force that drives the plot forward and serves as a beacon of light in the darkness. Similarly, in "After great pain, a formal feeling comes," Dickinson explores the idea that even in the aftermath of great pain and trauma, there is the possibility of a new beginning, a new life, and a new hope. The formal feeling that accompanies the pain can be seen as a way of coping with the trauma, but it also creates a sense of detachment and emptiness that can be difficult to overcome.
The automotive industry uses advertisements and hundreds of types of persuasive techniques to sell you their vehicles. In the Ford advertisement that I chose, a large red truck is driving down the road during a rain storm. The words “It’s simple. BURN LESS FUEL. Burn less cash.”
The picture I chose, shows an image that is in the public eye of today’s society, the image of smoking and how people can be affected by it. In this picture, viewers can see how smoking can really affect one’s life and how the addiction can be harmful to not only the outside of the body, but also the inside. This photo shows a controversial side of the appeal that people become addicted to cigarettes and, even after trying to go cold turkey, some people still cannot get over the addiction. The first thing that is noticed is the noose. The noose is being wrapped around the woman’s neck comparing the cigarette to the noose in attempt to show death.
