The Design for Excellence in 2020 is the path my county is on. This strategic goal was created in 2010 and 2011 when parents, families, students, community leaders, businesses, and teachers discussed the importance of where is online learning. They also conversed over the importance of science, math, technology, and engineering. With these in mind, they set 3 goals for students to be able to do by 2020. Goal 1 deals with students investing global problems through investigation, engagement, and collaboration. These problem solving investigations should focus on student interest. Goal 2 pertains to students being able to use, develop, and understand 21st century technology. Students will be able to use it to thrive in work, postsecondary education, and life. Goal 3 deals with students understanding what it takes to be a thriving global citizen that is accepting of others. These goals and strategic plan hopes to keep teachers from teaching in the front of the classroom to the kids researching, using technology, working with others, and solving problems. Students and teachers work together to investigate a situation that peek student interest while learning academic matter. Students should go through the steps of collaboration, communication, and critical thinking to create presentations or original products. As a team, they must use higher end thinking skills that answers a driving question. Reflection and revision of the product gives students an opportunity to learn the importance of reflection on ones learning and final product. At the end, students must present their work to an audience, which hopefully will motivate students to create something of true originality and increase
