Strategic Planning: Communication Plan The managers have the responsibility to communicate the strategic action plan to the stakeholders. The effective communication strategy the managers adopt would gain them the support of the stakeholders. This support enables the rapid and successful implementation of the plan to achieve the strategic goal. The main strategy I would use as a manager is the purpose-directed verbal and visual communication methods (Johns, 2016). It would include the formal and the informal channels as appropriate, depending on the stakeholder. Types of Communication Strategies and the Rationale The purpose-directed communication allows the manager to bring the attention of the stakeholders to the strategic goal. The strategic goal arrived at is a nonroutine message, as it is a new idea which is time bound. The strategic goal can be well conveyed using a rich formal channel in the upward communication. This channel is appropriate for the top-level hospital management, payers, etcetera (Daft, 2014). Through this channel, the message will get transmitted within the chain of command. The message would gain the needed support from the stakeholders. It will not get misunderstood or be a surprise to them. The best method of communication is face to face meeting with these stakeholders. It is appropriate to use a combination of formal and informal channels when communicating downward to the lower level employees and business partners. For example, face to face meeting or twitter messaging is better selected in these instances. In the case of horizontal communication with the stakeholders like the employees of the different departments and other health care providers (Daft, 2014), it is better to use the informal channels.
