Staphylococcus epidermidis is the organism that was identified based on the tests that I had conducted. The tests that I used to identify this organism were the coagulase test and the catalase test. My bacterium was beta hemolytic as well. First, a gram stain had to be done to determine whether the organism was a gram positive organism or a gram negative organism. This determined which set of tests that had to be done.
Long ago, there lived a slime mold named Stemonitis Fusca who lived in Scotland. Stemonitis was new to his home in the Caledonian Forest. He found a nice, cozy spot in a deciduous tree’s trunk. Slime molds usually live on forest floors or tree trunks just like Stemonitis. Mucus accumulation in the lungs and airway increases susceptibility to opportunistic pathogens such as, Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Airway bacterial infection and eventually chronic lung infection is the primary cause of death in people with CF. P. aeruginosa ability to mutate, transfer genes, produce alginate, and toxins all contribute to it virulence and ability to cause chronic lung infection in CF patients.

When I was first diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, a common colon disease, I had no idea what it was. It wasn’t until several tests and explanations from multiple doctors that my parents and I started to understand the extent of the problem. Most of the population assume that diet drinks, tea, coffee, and fruit choice are all better options than full fat fizzy drinks, however, it has been found that even ‘Diet Cola’ has a pH of 3.2, which is actually slightly more acidic than ‘full fat Irn Bru’ at pH 3.3.
