In The Maze Runner, the author used the sense of strong community and hard work through the characters to show how we as humans take for granted our friendships. The reason why this story seems to illustrate this statement is because in the story, all the characters have to go through a long journey and most of the journey is impossible to do alone. The story seemed to depict a strong connection between all of the characters which made it seem like every character in the movie had a specific role and they all had to be intertwined. By relying on one another to obtain a functional society, certain rolls need to be filled and occupied.
At the beginning of The Maze Runner, Thomas was coming into an unknown world without any knowledge of where he was or what was about to happen next. That was the beginning of his journey. Going into the maze, although he had not known immediately (he finds out at the end of the book), he was actually trained and put into preparation for this specific scenario. Only then to ask to put himself through this. Since he got brainwashed though, he didn’t necessarily remember the training. Obviously though, he goes on his quest with his friends and he becomes the main leader and principle of the glade. The type of task he is on is an extremely grueling, onerous, yet satisfying task that WICKED gave to him. He exceeded their standards and ended up killing them. Thomas was made to save people and be able to go through harsh things and that is exactly what he did.
In conclusion, The Maze Runner shows the ultimate concept of friendship. The movie revolves around a big wheel of saving each other and stepping up to take the lead. Everyone realized how they had to act, what was right and wrong, and the fact that keeping bonds so close is the only way to
