Stroop Effect

Design In this replicated study of the Stroop Effect, there were several replicated measures, resulting in a longitudinal study that represents a collection of data collected through changes in time with each of the participants. In this repeated experiment, it presented demonstrations of how distractions or in this case, directions that do not correspond to the word may lead into cognitive difficulties, taking a longer period of time to understand cognitively. In simpler terms, In this replicated study, there was a separation between the experimental group and the control group. In the control group, participants were only exposed to the sets of words (24 sets) that correspond to the directions. In the experimental group, participants were …show more content…

There were no gender distributions in the study, the students were randomly selected whether a male of a female. From these 30 participants, half of the participants, by using random sampling, were randomly assigned to either the control group, or the experimental group that were allocated by small chits of paper, either referring to group A (control) or group B (experimental) that they had to pick themselves as it was the most effective way for students to be allocated with limited …show more content…

Those that were not were introduced to our secure procedures (Appendix D) which led to the division process of the experiment. Participants were asked to pull up the chits themselves (Appendix C) and which randomly allocated and indicated them either into the control group or the experimental group. Before the experiment had been conducted, in both procedures of the control group and the experimental group, participants were told about the 24 sets of words (Appendix A/B), and were asked to read out the directions of the study. During the procedure, they were timed individually, one by one outside of the classroom where no distractions could occur which could have affected the results of the study. After the participants were timed, they were sent back together, and were debriefed (Appendix F) about the true aims of the study, and were told that the results were kept confidential and ethical considerations were taken care
