The article, “ What should Students understand after taking introduction to Sociology”, talks about nine terms that explains what leaders expect students to understand after taking an introduction course in Sociology. In addition, it explains the pros and cons of the viewers point and a couple of Sociological theories that are relevant to this article. It also, explains how sociology is different from other natural sciences. The leaders have various points about what students should understand in this article but of which some are really important. . Additionally, it explains how various social forces affect people’s outcomes in the society. This is where deviance comes into the picture. In some countries, a change may lead to stability, reduction of social tension and productivity. Whereas in some other countries, it may lead to worse and more difficult problems like marginalization, one problem leading to another and abuse of power. This explains what structural functionalism theory is about. Although this theory is too broad and fails to address the problem of inequality of social class, race and gender.
