Presenting Concerns My role in this program is to facilitate a Current Events and Social Skills Group. We do have schizophrenic clients who will speak to their delusions during group at times that can be distracting and it is an uncontrollable action. T’Keyah used the skills of a democratic type leader, she was group centered, cooperated, collaborated, and shared responsibilities among the group. Group leadership skills that T’Keyah used throughout the session included active listening, clarifying, summarizing, supporting, empathizing, and giving feedback. T’Keyah also used the strengths approach during session.
If members are present for group and turnover rates are at a minimum this may allow group members may experience cohesiveness and realize the value of the group. The lack of immediate comfort has been a common problem in groups because clients who enter group therapy are usually anxious to resolve their problems, and when working with a group there is limited time; therefore, the client may not feel the group therapy will be beneficial to them. I most aspects of the literature circle from the reading of Enrique’s Journey to the unique ideas and views each of us shared. I have nearly nothing negative to say about the literature circles, except that the “connector” appears to it a bit harder than the other members of the group considering they write more, from what I have seen. Although, you could say that it is fair considering that each member will be the connector once. Although, I enjoyed reading the nonfiction book Enrique’s Journey. With this in mind, I would say that The literature circles are doing fine other than a few minor issues.
As the leader of the group the counselor will use the intake appointment to meet with the participant individually and talk about the group structure. Once the counselor has met with the participant, the participant will answer some screening questions. After the participant has completed the screening questions the counselor will have an interview with the participant. The counselor will get additional information or clarification based on the screening questions. The counselor will then advise the participant that she will call the participant to inform them if they will be part of the group.
In my first session, the group started with a silent prayer, and read Alcoholic announcement. Next, the reader introduced the group leader. The group leader stated that goals that needs to be accomplish in this group which is stay sober day by day. The group leader also discuss in the group session about alcoholism. The group leader stated that alcoholism is a disease, and alcoholism progress and a chronic disorder.
I chose this particular group because it was an open meeting and they welcomed anyone. The man running the group, was a member himself, and was very welcoming. The meeting started with the AA promise and 12 steps, which I believe they start every meeting with. There was not one specific topic focused
According to Haskell the nature and value of objectivity is that objectivity is fairness, you are always seeking the truth. Haskell says that Novick’s views objectivity as neutrality, meaning that historians are neutral. In reality historians are never neutral and always have biased towards a story, which means they have never been objective. The value of objectivity for Haskell is it is necessary for the historical profession. Haskell believes that has a society, if we don’t believe there is a truth then we will constantly have conflicts.
The purpose of group learning and development is to ensure that all learning styles are catered for and the ultimate goal of sharing knowledge is achieved. When using a group to deliver something new each individual can call on a fellow participant to confirm understanding. 1.2 Explain why delivery of learning and development must reflect group dynamics When delivering to a group it is important to consider, what is the normal behaviour within the group? Our group topics were engaging and discussed personal matters that affected our lives. It is nice to have a sense of group cohesiveness, altruism and universality, but despite the closeness it does make one realize in the end that our problems are still ours alone. At the same time, it is good to have support and have others that resonate with your experiences and know that life is difficult and that it can be unfair (Yalom & Leszcz, 2005, p. 90). Conclusion In conclusion this semesters group therapy, has been a great learning experience to understand the therapeutic elements of the group.
A good reasoning is a reasoning that leads to certain, true and valid conclusions. There are two kinds of reasoning, inductive and deductive reasoning. Both processes include the process of finding a conclusion from multiple premises although the way of approach may differ. Deductive reasoning uses general premises to make a specific conclusion; inductive reasoning uses specific premises to make a generalized conclusion. The two types of reasoning can be influenced by emotion in a different manner because of their different process to yield a conclusion.
Team members can then form an agreement on the prospective goals and processes involved in their treatment. This process allows the leader to create a therapeutic environment where the members can feel free to disclose their feeling about the therapy.
