Flippo University of North Alabama Student Affairs departments should seek to utilize all areas of life, both inside and outside the classroom, to develop, mature, global citizens who are continuously learning as they lead and serve others. The organizational chart of each institution may look different but the goal should always focus on inspiring individual students to succeed. They feel that personnel and financial resources should be directed only to areas that promote the traditional classroom where the end result is a degree. Overall training in a focused subject, that results in a degree, that helps someone get a good job, that provides for their needs, is what every student wants. However, this outcome really takes a variety of learning, input, and experience in all areas of life, to create the man or woman that will be successful in all areas of life. As a Student Affairs practitioner, there are several areas that I want to be a part of my life as I work with students. It is important that I model a life of integrity. I want to be honest and ethical in my behavior and speech for the students and my co-workers. Others should be able to feel that they can trust me because, to the best of my abilities, I will always respond with integrity and display strong moral principles. A person cannot be happy with the status quo but needs to be in a continuous state of growth. It is vital that Student Affairs professionals learn about different, practices, perspectives and techniques, so they can do their very best work. Student Affairs works with an ever-changing demographic of student. For example, there are many students who are older, only study online, are culturally diverse, or students who work a job over 30 hours per week and attend school. To be effective we must expand our knowledge base. We have the opportunity to use technology and research to see how others are meeting the needs of a diverse student population.
