Student Teaching Philosophy

As I prepare for student teaching, my strengths include my ability to remain flexible, energetic, and positive while I am teaching. I believe that I have the necessary tools to manage the classroom and the necessary knowledge to prepare my students for success. I know how to assess my students and differentiate between instructions in order to meet the needs of all learners. Additionally, I am aware of how to remain culturally responsive within the classroom. I exceeded in providing hands-on and interactive activities for my students. I am always finding ways to meet the needs of my students as well as to provide the most beneficial lessons for my students. My strengths include teaching reading and writing because I have had so many experiences working one-on-one and co-teaching whole group reading and writing lessons. …show more content…

I lack the necessary experience and practice when it comes to being assertive in the classroom. Although I am able to manage the classroom as a whole, I find it challenging to manage specific students who have behavior issues and I need to improve on my assertiveness in order to prevent specific students from disrupting the other students’ learning process. I need to work on pointing out the positive behavior in the classroom, rather than always redirecting those students who are not following the instructions. When it comes to reading and writing, I believe that I need to work on getting the students excited to learn. Once I make a change in reinforcing positive behavior and the way that I introduce a lesson, I believe that I will be completely prepared for the classroom. Every day is a learning experience and I know that I will grow as a teacher through my student teaching
