For Nietzsche, the idea of women is very negative. As a woman myself, I felt very offended how Nietzsche portrays the image of women. One of many things that Nietzsche says about women is when she cooks in the kitchen. In section 234, Nietzsche portrays a woman as stupid in the kitchen. In this reflection essay, we will analyze section 234 and see what does Nietzsche portrays a woman in the kitchen.
Nietzsche starts the section by saying: “Stupidity in the kitchen; women as cook”. The first impression of this statement is very ignorant of him by saying; the stupidest thing in the kitchen is a woman. In addition, Nietzsche states, “Women does not understand what food means- and wants to be cook”. For Nietzsche, a woman in a kitchen symbolizes that she does not know how to cook properly. Personally, in this following statement, will be hard to admit-Even though Nietzsche is a person who is very sexist, he does have a point in this section. As a person who has trained as a culinary chef, like me, could see Nietzsche’s view of women cooking in the kitchen. Instead of women cooking in the kitchen, I believe anyone, women, and men, who do not know how to cook is because they do not understand the meaning of food. For example, the process of baking a cake. The main issue that people do when baking the cake is mixing the ingredients together at the same time. The correct way to mix together cake ingredients is separating the dry and wet items. After separating the ingredients, a well-knowing chef would know, to mix together slowly the ingredients.
